This year's races will consist of our classic criterium and a new road race. Be sure to get your driving information to us as soon as you can (more info below). Road Race | Saturday, 31 March 2012The race course is along new roads on a hilly 7.4 mile counter-clockwise loop of Scenic Drive at the Prince William Forest Park (18170 Park Entrance Road, Triangle, Virginia 22172). Prologue: An individual time trial with the first rider starting at 0745 for a 5km track along the course. Races begin at 0900 and will cover the same loop as the Prologue. The staging and registration area will be at the Turkey Run Education Center. Registration begins at 0700, closing for each category 30 minutes prior to the scheduled race start time. Fees: Park Entry - $5 Time Trial - $17 Road Race - $25 Camping plots are available at the Turkey Run Camp Ground for $5 per person per night. Map update coming soon! Criterium | Sunday, 1 April 2012A scenic 0.75 mile course with a small hill and two technical turns. We will be using a wheel pit and free lap rule. Minimum field size is 4. Registration will open at 0730, closing for each category 30 minutes prior to scheduled race start time. The fee is $20. Ensure you have Naval Academy access (instructions in the next section).
Naval Academy AccessThe Naval Academy is a government installation; with current high security conditions, cars are normally not allowed on campus. To drive on base: Fill out this form no later than TBD Feb 2012. Teams must coordinate all the information for their race caravan with their team leadership in order to send all information for a team as one package. This is subject to change based on the threat levels at the time of the race. Arrive before 0900: After this time, the USNA Cycling Team representative at Gate 8 will leave and entry onto the yard will be limited. Bring Medical Equipment: Navy corpsman will only be able to offer medical care to midshipmen, therefore teams are required to have there own first aid kits. A local ambulance will be on call for major emergencies. |
